Talk Enables Change. Counselling is a space to talk and think about your problems with someone skilled and interested in listening; a place to explore thoughts and feelings about yourself and your relationships with others.
COVID 19 SUPPORT
Psychotherapist Jessica Calvo has recorded this 45 minute video on the neurobiology of stress and anxiety, along with some movement, breath & mindfulness that is neuroscience informed. A great resource for information and tools to manage feelings in these unsettling times
At the Maya centre we offer:
Counselling is a space to talk and think about your problems with someone skilled and interested in listening. It is a place to explore thoughts and feelings about yourself and your relationships with others. Counselling can help you understand yourself better and allow you to see what may have been stopping you from fulfilling your potential in life. We aim to be sensitive to women from every ethnic background, social class and sexual orientation.
Our counselling offered in a group environment can have many benefits, as takes place with a group session of women together and it offers a support network and provides the opportunity to meet others experiencing similar concerns. Together with the therapist and the other group members you’ll be encouraged to talk about your experience with other women who have had similar experiences. This can help you with feeling less alone and isolated, and also assist with gradually gaining confidence and building your self-esteem.
We run non-counselling sessions/workshops and open days enabling you to gain support from peers, improve your knowledge, skills, confidence and motivation through addressing a range of topics.
