What is Counselling?

  • Counselling means talking with a woman counsellor.
  • She listens to you carefully.
  • She helps you understand your feelings and experiences.
  • Together, you can find ways to feel stronger and happier.

How We Can Help

We have different types of support. You can choose what feels right for you.

1-to-1 Counselling

  • Talk with a counsellor on your own.
  • Share what is on your mind.
  • Feel supported and not alone.

Women with Neurodiversity

If you’re not ready for 1-to-1 or group sessions, you can join our Women’s Circle.

It’s a friendly monthly group for women with neurodiversity to share and support each other.

You can join our Social Justice Programme and become a volunteer.

You can use your opinions to change and improve current support.

Easy Words We Use

  • Counsellor / Therapist = A trained woman who listens and supports you.
  • Psychotherapy / Counselling = A type of talking therapy to help with deep feelings.
  • Wellbeing = Feeling good in your mind and body.

 

Important to Know

  • All our services are free.
  • We have counsellors who speak 13 languages.
  • We are BACP – this means our therapists are fully trained and professional.

You Are Not Alone

If you feel sad, unsafe, or worried, we are here to listen.
You can:

  • Try mind-body therapies
  • Join a workshop

All in a safe, women-only space.

Christmas Holiday Closure

Closed from: Friday 19 December at 5pm
Reopen: Monday 5 January at 9:30am

Our phone lines will be closed during this period, and any emails received will be responded to upon reopening. Please be aware that our response time is 10 working days.

The Maya Centre is not a crisis centre but if you are experiencing a mental health crisis during the closure, we’ve provided a list of contacts for support.
