Building Hope and Connection at the VAWG Grassroots Fund Showcase

This month our CEO, Gona Saed, and our Clinical Director, Melanie Atherley, took part in the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Grassroots Fund Showcase organised by The London Community Foundation. It was an inspiring event that brought together many groups from across London who are working hard to support women and girls in their communities.

The most meaningful parts of the event were meeting so many dedicated service providers, build strong new connections and explore partnerships that will help make mental health and VAWG support more accessible for women and girls throughout London. Bringing services together means we can offer more holistic care – care that supports the whole person, not just one part of their experience.

The MOPAC VAWG Grassroots Fund has played a huge role in helping The Maya Centre offer Art Therapy to asylum‑seeking and refugee women. Thanks to this support, we’ve been able to work in partnership with MamaSuze to create a safe, creative space for healing. Attending this event gave us renewed hope. It reminded us that when organisations come together with compassion and dedication, we can build a future where more women have access to the emotional and mental health support they deserve. We look forward to continuing this important work and expanding the services we can provide for women across London.
