The Maya Centre is a unique, women-only charity based in Islington, offering free, specialist psychotherapy and holistic support to women on low incomes, whose mental health and wellbeing have been affected by experiences ranging from deprivation and isolation to racism, exploitation and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
Our team is made up of experienced, fully qualified psychotherapists and counsellors from diverse backgrounds who are sensitive to the particular therapeutic needs of marginalised groups.
You might be familiar with some of those faces already, but chances are, you probably aren’t – so we’re launching Meet the Maya, a new series to introduce you to the brilliant women who make up the Maya Centre.
Over the next few months, we’ll be virtually opening the doors to our charity, and sharing insights from our team members about what goes on behind the scenes; from day-to-day management and administration, to the specifics of our specialist counselling services.
In the series, our team will also be sharing reflections and observations about the needs of the women we support, as well as the transformational effect that mental health support can and does bring to people’s lives.
We hope that this virtual meet-and-greet will give you a better idea of the work that we do at the Maya Centre, and perhaps inspire you to amplify the work we do along the way.
Make sure you keep up-to-date with every feature in the series by checking our dedicated hub here, or by following us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
