Women’s Only Day

Women’s Only Day is a partnership between The Maya Centre and Islington Mind, delivered as part of the Mental Health Recovery Pathway programme funded by Islington Council. Together, we provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive space for women in Islington to focus on their wellbeing, connect with others, and access practical and emotional support.

The space

Women’s Only Day is a women-only mental health drop-in held at Islington Mind
The space is calm, friendly, and non-judgemental. You can drop in for a chat, take part in activities, or simply spend time in a safe environment where you feel supported.
Shared spaces include:

  • An art room
  • A music room
  • An IT room

Affordable lunches are available, offering an opportunity to sit, eat, and connect with other women in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

What is provided

Women can access: 

  • One-to-one emotional support 
  • Help with supported referrals, including access to the benefits clinic for specialist support with Universal Credit and PIP forms 
  • Structured one-to-one practical support 
  • Guidance and signposting to other local services 

The team is here to listen and support you, helping you take next steps at your own pace. 

The Maya Centre’s role

As part of this partnership, The Maya Centre leads on the design and delivery of wellbeing and therapeutic group activities, alongside creative workshops that support emotional expression, confidence-building, and connection. 

Activities may include: 

  • Wellbeing and therapeutic groups 
  • Creative and expressive workshops 
  • Community workshops and wellbeing trips 

These sessions offer women opportunities to learn new skills, explore creativity, and enjoy time away from everyday pressures, while feeling supported by experienced facilitators.

Women’s Only Day is open to women living in Islington who want to improve their wellbeing. You do not need a mental health diagnosis to attend – just a wish for support, connection, or a space where you can take time for yourself.
