Black and mixed race women interested in group therapy can join this 12-week course from 19th September.
From Monday 19th September 2022, The Maya Centre will be running a twelve-week therapy group for Black women. The course of weekly sessions will be held onsite, 10am – 12pm, with a half-term break on 24th October.
About The Black Women’s Therapeutic Group (BWTG)
This group works specifically with women from African and Caribbean backgrounds who wish to share experiences and explore their identities within a safe space, facilitated by two of our most experienced Black Women’s Therapists. With the emphasis on solidarity and healing, the BWTG is offered in twelve-week cycles with a maximum of 12 women per group.
It’s fundamental that we recognise the nuance of women’s experiences, which is why we offer specialised support for intersecting identities. Along with the BWTG, we also run a Turkish Women’s Therapeutic Group, a psychoeducation course for Somali women, a psychoeducation course for young Black women (drop-in sessions are available now) and an Irish Women’s project (one-to-one counselling).
We will soon be starting psychoeducation courses for Turkish, Albanian and South Asian women as well, along with courses open to all women. Learn more about why diversity and inclusion are important to us here.
