The Maya Centre is thrilled to welcome Melanie Dottin to the post of Clinical Director at the Maya Centre.
Previously Counselling Service Manager at Mind in Haringey, Melanie is a qualified counsellor specialising in areas such as bereavement, emotional support, personal therapy and specialist mentorship. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in community mental health, and has already made a significant contribution to our thinking on inclusive and accessible mental health provision for women.
Speaking about her appointment, Melanie said: “Joining the team at the Maya Centre as their new Clinical Director this year has met my professional and personal goals. There are great opportunities to support the evolution of their intercultural and intersectional services, and increasing their reach to support women in Islington and the surrounding boroughs. My passion lies in working towards liberating women to live, choose and refuse.”
Emma Brech, CEO of the Maya Centre said: “On behalf of the Maya Centre staff and trustees, I’m delighted to welcome Melanie as our incoming Clinical Director. Melanie joins us at an exciting time of development, and her combination of grounded clinical insight, creativity and effervescence makes her a huge asset to our staff and clients. Melanie is getting to know the team, will be making stronger connections with local partners and is looking forward to bringing back a Maya Centre tradition of specialist trainee placements for women therapists from October 2021.”
