We’re delighted to announce that we’ve recently been awarded a 3 year grant by the National Lottery Community Fund to create and develop an exciting new Women’s Hub from April 2022.
With this generous fund, we’re taking more of our services out into the community, creating safe, intercultural spaces where women can come together, co-design their own wellbeing workshops and support each other towards increased resilience and self-care.
Working with four new Community Navigators, we want to reach women who might not ordinarily access counselling or therapy: women from minoritised backgrounds who may have experienced multiple barriers to wellbeing – and who will benefit from more voice, choice and control over the design of services most helpful to them. As part of this, we’ll be aiming to build a Women’s Forum, so that women with lived experience can advise The Maya Centre on our approach, activities and strategic direction.
Emma Brech, CEO of the Maya Centre, said, ‘we have an extraordinarily diverse community of women in Islington and we’re so excited about the opportunity to reach out, find out how they are coping and work alongside them to design activities which inspire and empower us all. There has never been a more important time to focus on our message of inclusive and accessible women’s mental health. We can’t wait to get our Women’s Hub up and running’
We can’t wait to share further information about this programme with you, so make sure you keep up with our News page for further announcements, recruitment opportunities and the full project launch!
